A Prayer for the One Who Is Afraid of God's Glory and Power

When we think about God's power, it can be difficult to comprehend. Scripture describes His glory with imagery of fire, radiant light, precious stones, and heavenly majesty. Ezekiel's vision of the Lord was so overwhelming that he immediately fell facedown in reverence

Many believers experience a similar tension. We know God is holy, sovereign, and all-powerful, yet His greatness can sometimes feel intimidating. We recognize our own weakness and limitations in comparison to His perfection.

Yet Scripture reveals something remarkable. God did not leave Ezekiel on the ground in fear. Instead, He lifted him up and called him into His service. The same God who displayed unimaginable glory also showed compassion and purpose.

This pattern appears throughout the Bible. God's holiness inspires reverence, but His love invites relationship. His power is never disconnected from His goodness.

The cross is the ultimate reminder of this truth. The God who created the universe willingly entered our broken world, bore our sin, and made a way for us to approach Him with confidence and hope.

When God's greatness overwhelms you, remember that His glory is matched by His grace. The One who reigns over heaven and earth is also the One who calls you His beloved child.

Prayer

Great God,

I stand in awe of Your holiness, majesty, and power. You are beyond anything I can fully understand, and Your glory fills heaven and earth.

Yet thank You that You are not only powerful—you are good. Thank You for Your compassion, Your mercy, and the love You demonstrated through Jesus Christ.

When I feel overwhelmed by Your greatness, remind me that I am welcomed into Your presence through Your grace. Help me worship You with reverence while trusting You with confidence.

May I never lose my awe of You, but may I also never forget Your kindness.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
